The One That Got Away Chapter 27 (M 1/6) “Well, I thought we could have a little fun before we had dinner, you know…some… one and one time with each other. Trust me, you’ll enjoy it.” He said as he smiled over at me. “And I sort of wanted you to meet my family. I know you’ll like them.” I was a little relieved when he reassured me of his plan. His smile woos me to the point where I feel like I’m floating on cloud 9. “Actually, that sounds really sweet.” I said as I leaned over and kissed his soft cheek. He grinned but kept his eyes on the road. I stared out the window and watched the city turn to trees in mere minutes. It was so beautiful and scenic. The sun was setting as I noticed buildings start to pop up along the road and before I knew it, we had made it to the next town over. We pulled into the parking lot of an enormous warehouse as I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I slid it out and saw that it was a text from Joe. ‘Nick…’ it read. But nothing else. What the fuck is that. I decided not to respond. I was on a date trying to get my mind off things, and I really wanted to enjoy myself.
